Fortaleza vs. Atletico Mineiro (Sunday, 8.00pm)
We are at the midway point of the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A season, and a victory for Fortaleza on Sunday against Atletico Mineiro at their home stadium of Arena Castelao could really tighten the race for first place in the table.
Leao do Pici are six points back of the league leaders heading into this match, following their 4-2 defeat to Bahia last weekend, while Atletico were held 1-1 by Bragantino at the end of August.
We say: Fortaleza 1-2 Atletico Mineiro
Atletico should be refreshed after a much-needed break, and as good as Fortaleza have been against the top teams in the league, at the moment, Atletico just refuses to lose, and with the addition of Diego Costa, they have an X-factor who can make a big difference.
Palmeiras vs. Flamengo (Sunday, 8.00pm)
Palmeiras and Flamengo will both look to strengthen their position at the top end of the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A table on Sunday, when they meet at Allianz Parque.
The hosts bounced back from a three-game losing run with an important victory over Athletico Paranaense last time out, while their visitors extended an impressive run of form with a 4-0 thrashing of Santos.
We say: Palmeiras 1-1 Flamengo
While Flamengo appear to be in a better run of form, Palmeiras bounced back last time out and will certainly be difficult to defeat.
We see Sunday's game ending level, in a result that should be relatively pleasing to both sides as they look to remain in the battle at the top end of the table.
Atletico GO vs. Corinthians (Sunday, 10.15pm)
Atletico Goianiense and Corinthians will square off on Sunday, as both sides look to extend impressive unbeaten runs in the Brazilian top flight.
The visitors have collected 11 points from their last five outings, while their hosts have not suffered a defeat in the last six league games, seeing them rise back up to eighth spot in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A table.
We say: Atletico Goianiense 1-1 Corinthians
In a clash between sides seemingly playing at the peak of their powers, we do not quite see either outclassing the other, instead opting for a draw.
Both teams will be desperate to continue unbeaten runs, and should be relatively pleased with a draw on Sunday.
Fluminense vs. Sao Paulo (Monday, 12.30am)
Sao Paulo are hoping to extend their unbeaten run in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A to six games when they travel to the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro to face Fluminense on Sunday.
After 19 league matches, Tricolor are in seventh, just three points behind Corinthians and a qualification spot in the Copa Libertadores next season, while the former six-time Serie A champions have gotten themselves out of the relegation zone, currently in 15th but only three points behind Flu in the table.
We say: Fluminense 1-2 Sao Paulo
Both sides seem to have found their footing in the Brasileiro Serie A and even though they did not show it early on, Sao Paulo are the superior side, and they are unbeaten in their last three road matches away from home in league play.
