Funny as it sounds, this could be a very real possibility in the New Year - if Souness and Grealish are men of their word.

The two football figures famously fell out in 2022, but we think they're friends now.
In fact, their reconciliation might even bring Souness together with the former subject of his most frequent criticism: ex-Manchester United midfielder Pogba.

It all started in September, weeks after Souness' highly-anticipated talkSPORT debut, when the Liverpool legend questioned Grealish's form at Manchester City.
"He is a good footballer. He is not a great player," Souness told talkSPORT.
"I understand why people think he is better than he actually is - because he runs with the ball and gets you on the edge of your seat.
"But he doesn't deliver enough. He doesn't see the right picture and he doesn't deliver it quickly enough.

"I see the same Grealish I saw at Villa a few years ago."

Later that week, those comments were put to Grealish - and so the back-and-forth began.
"I don't know what his problem is with me," the England star said with a laugh.

"I try not to read it, obviously it's difficult when he's on talkSPORT or Sky Sports and it's everywhere around the training ground at times.
"He was obviously a great player, I don't know what it is with what he says about me or what problem he's got."
Souness then came back and defended his views, warning Grealish he was '100 per cent' right with his views about Pogba - who left Old Trafford on a free transfer in the summer.

The legendary Scotsman also urged Grealish to be 'less precious', but finished by saying he'd love to have a night out with the 27-year-old.
Everyone knows Grealish likes a party and this was an offer he could not refuse - but there was one condition.
"Let's do it," the City forward responded on Twitter. "As long as I can bring Pogba as a +1".

Souness had expressed fears about keeping up with Grealish, so he introduced some ground rules.
"You're on Jack," he wrote in his Daily Mail column.
"If I get to pick the venue and the wines, you bring along whoever you want. And by the way, you're picking up the bill!"
By the end, even England manager Gareth Southgate was trying to scrape his way into the get-together.

"We'd all like a night out with Jack, I wouldn't mind one with Souey as well, so no problem," the England boss joked.
Now, though, the time for joking is over. Three months have passed and it would appear no seshing has taken place.
We will stop short of calling the whole thing a façade because Souness and Grealish are busy people.

But as the two men sit down to make their New Year's resolutions, we hope one is to patch things up over a glass of Chateau Largo in 2023.
