Solskjaer losing Man Utd dressing room as Cristiano Ronaldo irritation noticed

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is losing sections of the Manchester United dressing room, as his future hangs in the balance.

Old Trafford chiefs are holding showdown talks over the Norwegian boss after Liverpool embarrassed the Red Devils on Sunday.

The United hierarchy have backed the under-fire boss in recent weeks, but in the wake of Sunday's 5-0 rout as Mohamed Salah scored a sublime hat-trick, they are reconsidering their stance and considering sacking the Norwegian.

Indeed, numerous sources, including ESPN, reports that Solskjaer is also losing support in the dressing room as relationships among the players and coaching staff are starting to deteriorate.

It states a "sizeable number of his squad" have lost faith in their manager for a variety of reasons.

It's claimed that senior players are irked with Solskjaer's inability to get Cristiano Ronaldo and Mason Greenwood on the same page as they struggle to link up effectively.

Ronaldo is "irritated" by the youngster's tendency to shoot when he makes himself available and teammates have noticed they are not passing to each other as often anymore.

Solskjaer's "favoritism" for under-performing players is a huge sticking point too as the likes of Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic have been frozen out of the team.

Gary Neville, who has openly admitted he won't call for his former teammate to be sacked, took to social media to dismiss that notion.

He said on Twitter : "Here we go! The players PR and Social Media Teams working hard!"

The former Man United defender also reckons the club will keep Solskjaer until the end of the season.

He said: "I didn't think it would get as bad as this. Today was a shocker and the timing couldn't be worse and it's been building.

"As soon as they (United) played a proper team they got torn to pieces, dismantled. You can't flick a switch in football. They are one of the lowest running teams in the league and there's nothing worse than being told you're one of the lowest running teams and you're easy to play against - they're both.

"That's a poor reflection on the manager, staff and players. I watched the Leicester game back and tried to figure out what they're being told. They've got no structure to press from and don't run as much as other teams and are easy to play against.

If this was post-Sir Alex [Ferguson] aftermath, Ole would be in massive trouble tonight. I think the club will hold their nerve and I don't think they've planned for another manager this season and they'll sit with Ole til the end of the season.

"There will be a massive outcry from fans and media from everybody that he should be sacked and I can understand why after that game.

"I've seen Jose and [Louis] Van Gaal come in and was disappointed. I never asked for Ron Atkinson (to be sacked), I didn't want Moyes to be sacked.

"The reason the club will go at the end of the season, they won't bring a hitman in. They will stick with Ole and he has to win something this season."
