Shrewsbury Town striker Daniel Udoh was left with egg on his face after paying homage to Cristiano Ronaldo during Sunday afternoon's FA Cup clash with Liverpool.
The 25-year-old gave the visitors the lead at Anfield in the 27th minute with a well-taken finish after Nathanael Ogbeta's driven cross from the left flank.
For seven euphoric minutes, the League One club may have dreamed of a magical upset on Merseyside, but their delight was short-lived as Kaide Gordon equalised for Liverpool.
Fabinho's double and Roberto Firmino's late strike ensured the Reds progressed to the fourth round at Shrewsbury's expense, meaning Udoh's emphatic Ronaldo gesture after opening the scoring can only be described as having backfired.
The Nigerian performed the Manchester United superstar's trademark celebration after opening the scoring, complete with the circling finger before leaping 180-degrees in the air and bellowing "siuuu".

Udoh's goal left the Anfield faithful stunned and his subsequent tribute to Ronaldo, the talisman of Liverpool's arch-rivals United, rubbed salt in their wounds.
"We had them worried for seven minutes," said Shrewsbury manager Steve Cotterill, who insisted the scoreline did not reflect an entertaining encounter on Merseyside.
He added: "I don't think it was a 4-1 game. It was a 2-1 game. It is difficult when they bring on Firmino and (Takumi) Minamino. It ends up being tough on our lads.
Cotterill also opened up on Virgil van Dijk's touching visit to the visitors' dressing room after the match.
"Virgil came into our dressing room and congratulated everyone and brought his shirt in," Cotterill said. "Not only is he a top player - he is a gentleman and it was a very good experience for our players today."
Van Dijk sent a classy message to Shrewsbury on social media, tweeting: "Into the next round we go, the young boys did well! Well played to Shrewsbury, good luck for the rest of the season."
Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile, admitted the League One club gave his side a "difficult" afternoon to cap a week which saw Liverpool's training ground closed for 48 hours due to a coronavirus outbreak.
"This was the team that could line up today and the boys did well," the Liverpool manager said. "[It was a] difficult game that became more difficult when we concede, the boys put in a proper shift.
"Setting up a team, training on Friday, playing kids... it was tricky to break down a low block. I'm just happy."
Liverpool have been drawn against Cardiff in the fourth round of the FA Cup and the tie will take place on the weekend of 29 and 30 January.
