Bellingham is the only ever-present for Dortmund this season, having played every single minute of their campaign thus far and in fact leading the team out as captain for the first time on Saturday against Cologne. Despite an assist from the 19-year-old stand-in skipper, BVB slipped to a 3-2 defeat that means they go into this weekend's Klassiker at home to Bayern Munich tied on 15 points. However, Edin Terzic's team will be focused solely on their European fixture for now. An opening 3-0 win at home to Copenhagen was followed by a late 2-1 loss away at Manchester City - Bellingham on target in both - to leave Die Schwarzgelben second in Group G. Victory over still winless Sevilla will therefore see them open up a five-point advantage over the Spaniards.. Borussia make the trip to Andalusia without injured captain Marco Reus, but there's hope that first-choice goalkeeper Gregor Kobel will be fit in time. Otherwise understudy Alexander Meyer will add to his five-game run in net that started with a clean sheet against Copenhagen. Gio Reyna is also a doubt with a muscular injury picked up on international duty. Terzic has already been cautious with him this season, so the American definitely won't be rushed back.
Sevilla were beaten 3-2 the last time they hosted Dortmund, back in the 2020/21 round of 16. The Spaniards also lost 2-0 at home at the weekend against Atletico Madrid, leaving them 17th in their domestic league with just a single win in nine competitive outings this season. The pressure is reported to be mounting on former Real Madrid and Spain boss Julen Lopetegui, whose team have scored just six times. Two have gone to right-back Jose Angel Carmona and Oliver Torres, but the latter isn't in the club's Champions League squad. The other three are shared across Erik Lamela, Rafa Mir and former Hertha Berlin defender Karim Rekik, with summer signing Isco yet to make an impact. Midfielder Thomas Delaney will be familiar with BVB after three years there up till last summer. Ivan Rakitic and Tanguy Nianzou are ex-Schalke and Bayern respectively, so will know all about facing BVB.
Match stats
Bellingham has scored in each of Dortmund's opening two fixtures in Europe this term.
The England international captained BVB for the first time last time out, and did so on his 101st appearance for the club in all competitions.
At the age of 16 years and 18 days, Youssoufa Moukoko became the youngest player in Champions League history when he featured against Zenit St. Petersburg in August 2020.
These two sides have played each other four times previously, with a win apiece and two draws spitting the difference.
They last met in the last 16 of the 2020/21 Champions League. Dortmund won 3-2 in Spain and shared a 2-2 draw at the Signal Iduna Park as BVB advanced to the quarter-finals.
Although Sevilla are four-time Europa League winners and two-time UEFA Cup victors, they have never won the Champions League. Unlike Dortmund, who lifted the famous trophy in 1997.
