Saturday's Eredivisie predictions including AZ Alkmaar vs. FC Twente

Go Ahead Eagles vs. NAC Breda (Saturday, 3.30pm)

Neck and neck in the league table, Go Ahead Eagles and NAC Breda will do battle at De Adelaarshorst on Saturday afternoon in round 17 of the 2024-25 Eredivisie season.

Neither team came away with maximum points from their most recent league outings as the hosts played out a thrilling stalemate against FC Utrecht, while their visitors fell to a narrow defeat against AZ Alkmaar.

We say: Go Ahead Eagles 2-1 NAC Breda

There is not so much separating the teams ahead of this one, and a close contest is on the cards here.

That said, we are leaning towards a home victory, albeit by only a narrow margin, when all is said and done.

Almere City vs. Heerenveen (Saturday, 5.45pm)

The 2024-25 Eredivisie season reaches its midway point in round 17, which pits Almere City against Heerenveen at the Yanmar Stadion on Saturday evening.

The teams are on a contrasting run of results heading into this one, with the home side seeking to avoid an eighth loss on the bounce, while the away team go in search of a fourth straight triumph.

We say: Almere City 0-2 Heerenveen

Almere City cannot buy a win at the moment, and we are expecting them to come away empty-handed once again with Heerenveen cruising to a routine win at the end of the 90 minutes.

AZ vs. FC Twente (Saturday, 7.00pm)

AZ Alkmaar will be looking to extend their winning streak in the league to five matches when they welcome FC Twente to the AFAS Stadion this Saturday for round 17 of the Eredivisie.

The Cheese Farmers staged a dramatic 2-1 comeback win against NAC Breda last weekend, overturning an early setback through Troy Parrot's 76th-minute goal and Mees de Wit's 92nd-minute header.

We say: AZ Alkmaar 3-1 FC Twente

In addition to their resurgent league form, AZ have got the better of Twente in recent meetings at the AFAS, winning seven of the last nine encounters.

The visitors have also struggled on the road against sides currently in the top six, with all three of their away league losses this season coming against such teams, and we feel this Saturday's outcome will not be an exception.

Heracles vs. Groningen (Saturday, 8.00pm)

The final match on Saturday evening in the Eredivisie will come from Asito Stadion in Almelo, where Heracles will be playing host to Groningen.

These two are separated by just two points in the league standings, with the visitors currently on 16 points and in 14th place, while the hosts are right behind them in 15th.

We say: Heracles 2-1 Groningen

While Groningen are ahead of this opponent by two points in the league standings, they have one of the worst away records in the division this season and failed to score a single goal in their last four matches on the road.

Heracles, on the other hand, are unbeaten in three at home and ran Ajax to the wire in a seven-goal thriller before that. We feel the hosts will get the result in this one.
