Saturday's Bundesliga predictions including Borussia Dortmund vs. FC Koln

Hoffenheim vs. Hertha Berlin (Saturday, 2.30pm)

Separated by just two points in the Bundesliga relegation dogfight, rock-bottom Hoffenheim host 15th-placed Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

Both embroiled in a battle to avoid the drop, the home side could leapfrog their capital city visitors with a win but return to Rhein-Neckar-Arena having lost their seventh game in a row.

We say: Hoffenheim 2-1 Hertha Berlin

There has never been a 0-0 result between these teams in 25 Bundesliga meetings to date, and both have leaked goals at an alarming rate this season. That points to either side conceding at least once on Saturday, when Hoffenheim can finally end their dismal run without a win and surpass Hertha in the standings.

VfL Bochum vs. RB Leipzig (Saturday, 2.30pm)

RB Leipzig will be aiming to bounce back from their humiliating 7-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City in the Champions League in midweek when they visit VfL Bochum this weekend.

The hosts, meanwhile, moved outside of the Bundesliga's relegation places by beating FC Koln last weekend.

We say: VfL Bochum 0-2 RB Leipzig

Bochum seem to have lost their air of invincibility on home territory in recent weeks with two successive 2-0 defeats at Vonovia-Ruhrstadion, and we can envisage a repeat scoreline on Saturday.

Leipzig will be determined to bounce back from their thrashing in Europe in midweek to ensure that their top four hopes remain in their own hands heading into the final stretch of the season.

Augsburg vs. Schalke (Saturday, 2.30pm)

Schalke 04 will be aiming to extend their unbeaten record in the Bundesliga to eight matches when they visit Augsburg on Saturday.

The hosts, meanwhile, have won each of their last four league games at the WWK Arena.

We say: Augsburg 1-1 Schalke 04

The form book makes this a difficult match to call, with Augsburg winning each of their last four home matches, but Schalke generating an impressive unbeaten run in recent weeks.

As such, both managers may not be too disappointed with avoiding defeat, especially as that would allow the hosts to keep a healthy distance between themselves and the relegation zone. We can envisage a low-scoring draw.

Stuttgart vs. Wolfsburg (Saturday, 2.30pm)

Both teams will be aiming to return to winning ways when Stuttgart host Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Stuttgart claimed a solid 1-1 draw away to Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend, while the Wolves were held at home by Union Berlin.

We say: Stuttgart 1-1 Wolfsburg

Neither of these teams are strangers to drawing matches this season, with one third of their league games ending as a stalemate so far this campaign, including both last weekend.

As such, we can envisage a share of the spoils at the Mercedes-Benz Arena on Saturday, with the hosts having to fight for every point that they can collect between now and the end of the season.

Dortmund vs. FC Koln (Saturday, 5.30pm)

Borussia Dortmund will be aiming to return to winning ways in the Bundesliga when they host FC Koln on Saturday evening.

The visitors, meanwhile, have collected only one point from their last four matches, with Steffen Baumgart's side only seven points clear of relegation danger.

We say: Borussia Dortmund 2-1 FC Koln

With both teams missing several key players due to injury, we do not expect either side to be at their best on Saturday, especially having suffered disappointing results last weekend.

However, Dortmund should be able to gain a marginal victory to ensure that they move one point above Bayern prior to their fixture against Leverkusen on Sunday, with Koln needing to pick themselves up after the international break.
