Roy Keane's ruthless Carrick comments in full after Man Utd caretaker's claims

Roy Keane was left in utter disbelief after Michael Carrick 's comments about Manchester United's performance at Chelsea... and duly tore into the Red Devils' caretaker manager.

United earned a point against the league leaders, with Jadon Sancho putting the visitors ahead before Jorginho levelled things up for the London side.

Carrick was full of praise for the efforts of his players after the game, which makes it two matches without defeat under the caretaker, while he questioned the decision to award the penalty from which Jorginho equalised.

However, Keane was not on the same page as the former midfielder, questioning Carrick's comments given the role the caretaker had previously played as part of former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 's coaching staff.

"When you are in front in a game like this to have it taken away is disappointing," Carrick said after the game.

"I'm proud of the players and the group all week. A difficult situation [and] we tried to make the best of it.

"But there is that little bitter feeling. We came to win the game. A little disappointed, I can't lie."

Keane's response was one of disbelief, with the Irishman first taking issue with Carrick's claim that Chelsea should not have been awarded a penalty.

"I disagreed with everything he said in that interview. It's clearly a penalty," he said of the incident, which saw Aaron Wan-Bissaka ruled to have fouled Thiago Silva.

He then turned his attention to the perceived pride, making reference to Carrick's role under Solskjaer.

"He's talking about the players efforts he's proud of them. He's been working with the players for months," Keane continued.

"He was in the dugout with Ole. All of sudden he's proud of them and they have a plan. What about the other games?

"We've seen all the stats they've been the worst in the league in closing people down. Praising players for doing their jobs. Mention the three midfielders [Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic and Fred]?"

Keane described Carrick's comments as "ridiculous", considering the caretaker manager's role working with Solskjaer and Jose Mourinho before taking over.

"He was sitting in the dugout with Ole and Mourinho as well. All of a sudden he's proud of the players this week," Keane said.

"I think the game has changed, every situation is different and I wouldn't be one for getting rid of all the staff but they have to be accountable. They were with Mourinho before."

He also made allusions to former players taking up coaching roles at Old Trafford, saying "I get the impression of Man United it's an element for a job for the boys. Wink, wink look after each other know the right people and that's why they're 8th or 9th in the league.

"[The] proof's in the pudding, we hope whoever comes in the club they make the right decisions and not because you might know somebody or because somebody is a decent guy.

"Loyalty in the game, the idea of loyalty, go get yourself a dog [if you want loyalty]. I'm not sure they're getting the right people in the job and there's definitely a pals act going on at Man United."
