The 43-year-old took charge of the Ammies on Friday, replacing former Manchester United under-23s coach Neil Wood as the head coach at the Peninsula Stadium.
But with his first clash against Forest Green Rovers coming just 24 hours after his appointment, Robinson wasted little time in making an impression.
While Salford took just four minutes to take the lead through Matt Smith, Robinson only stayed on the touchline for a total of 14 minutes before being shown a straight-red card.
The reason for his dismissal remains unclear, although there have been suggestions that it was due to his interference with a throw-in.
Perhaps Robinson's dismissal proved costly for his team, with Forest Green drawing the game level at 1-1 through Charlie McCann just before half-time.
