Robertson moves ahead of ex-Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal stars in PL assists tally

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has moved ahead of Mesut Ozil, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard in the all-time Premier League assists tally.

The Scotland international brought up his 55th top-flight assist during the Reds' clash against Manchester United at Anfield.

Robertson expertly found the run of Cody Gakpo just before the break, with the Dutchman cutting inside Raphael Varane before smashing the ball into the far corner.

No other defender in Premier League history has provided more assists than the ex-Hull man.

And he has now extended his record ahead of Leighton Baines [53] and teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold [45].

But more impressively, Robertson has moved ahead of ex-Arsenal star Ozil, former Chelsea winger Hazard and United cult hero Mata.

Ozil's former Gunners teammate Theo Walcott - who is now on the books at Southampton - is also on 54 assists.

Robertson is now on 55 along with Paul Scholes, Riyah Mahrez, Didier Drogba, Danny Murphy, Steed Malbranque and Damien Duff.

Unsurprisingly, Robertson has laid on more assists than another Premier League defender this season with nine in all competitions.

Only Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne has racked up more with 17.

Liverpool threatened to run riot in Merseyside against United after Darwin Nunez put them 2-0 up in the 47th minute.

And they were sent in dreamland just moments later when Gakpo put the hosts three to the good following great work from Mohamed Salah, before the Egyptian got in on the act in the 66th minute.
