Lewandowski scored his 30th and 31st league goals of the current campaign with a brace against Union Berlin on Matchday 27 as Bayern romped to a 4-0 victory.
Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann described Lewandowski's performance as "outstandingly good", matching up his display with his remarkable, record-breaking output in front of goal.
The Poland captain has now passed the 30-goal mark in successive Bundesliga seasons and for the fifth time in his career, adding his 2021/22 haul to 30+ efforts in 2020/21 (41 goals), 2019/20 (31), 2016/17 (30) and 2015/16 (30).
The 33-year-old now moves level with late Bayern legend Müller on five 30+ single seasons, who bagged in bulk in 1968/69 (30), 1969/70 (38), 1971/72 (40), 1972/73 (36) and 1973/74 (30).
And just to further highlight the brilliance of those two, it should be noted that there are only five other players who have scored at least 30 goals in a Bundesliga season. They all did so only once each: Uwe Seeler (30 in 1963/64), Lothar Emmerich (31 in 1965/66), Jupp Heynckes (30 in 1973/74), Dieter Müller (34 in 1976/77) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (31 in 2016/17).
It is the latest decades-long Müller landmark that Lewandowski has been able to reach, further cementing his legacy alongside Der Bomber on the Mount Rushmore of Bundesliga strikers.
Lewandowski's 41-goal effort last term surpassed Müller's 49-year-old single season record of 40, while he also bettered his predecessor's 1972 record for most Bundesliga goals in a calendar year by hitting 43 across 2021.
With 31 goals to his name already in 2021/22, Lewandowski now has his sights set on breaking both of those records again, while also looking to lift a 10th Meisterschale and getting his hands on the UEFA Champions League trophy for the second time.
