They appear all set to sign Kylian Mbappe, who's in the final year of his Paris Saint-Germain contract.
And they could be about to get Mbappe's France teammate Paul Pogba, who's a free agent next summer as things stand.
Mundo Deportivo in Spain reports that the Manchester United star will reject advances from PSG and former club Juventus in favour of a move to the Bernabeu.
The report adds that former Real Madrid boss Zidane wanted to sign Pogba on his return as Real Madrid boss in 2019 and enquired about his availability in every transfer window before leaving his post earlier this summer.
Pogba was out of the LaLiga side's price range but won't be from July 1, 2022.
It's an unenviable for Man United to be in and Mundo Deportivo says they could try to sell him in January in order to make some money from his departure.
Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola has previously stated the player's desire to leave Old Trafford.
Raiola said on the eve of Man United's Champions League group stage exit last season: "I can say it's over for Pogba at Manchester United."
However, the 28-year-old has a big decision to make with Man United looking like a team ready to make a serious challenge for the Premier League title having signed Cristiano Ronaldo last month.
