While a plethora of star names have made big-money moves and highly-rated prospects have been sent out on loan, a number of well-known players have switch clubs on a free transfer, most notably Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid after his Paris Saint-Germain contract expired in June.
However, there are many other familiar faces who still find themselves without a club, and here, Sports Mole takes a look at 10 free agents who are yet to be snapped up ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Adrien Rabiot
One of the most high-profile players still available as a free agent is France international Adrien Rabiot, who is searching for a new club after his contract with Serie A giants Juventus expired on June 30.
The 29-year-old midfielder, who made 212 appearances during a five-year stay at Juve, has previously stated that he 'still has the desire' to 'play in England' and 'evolve in the Premier League', with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool all allegedly in talks with the player's representatives.
The likes of Real Madrid, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain - Rabiot's former club - have also been linked with the Frenchman, but all three teams are understood to have taken a step back in the race for his signature.
Anthony Martial
Fellow Frenchman Anthony Martial is also without at club at the age of 28 after departing Man United upon the expiration of his contract in June, ending his nine-year association with the club.
The versatile forward contributed with 90 goals and 47 assists in 317 games during his time at Old Trafford, and after making a bright start to his Red Devils career, he was unable to build upon that early promise, with poor form and injuries ultimately preventing him from reaching the heights expected.
Martial is now keen to get his career back on track and is seeking a fresh challenge in the prime years of his career, with multiple European clubs including Atalanta BC and Lille believed to be interested in his services.
Memphis Depay
Another ex-Man United man yet to join a new club is Memphis Depay, whose brief 18-month spell at Atletico Madrid came to an end in June when he mutually agreed to terminate his contract.
The 30-year-old forward scored 13 goals in 40 appearances for Atletico and the Netherlands international is now weighing up his next career move having previously represented five different clubs in four different countries during his 13-year senior career.
Reports in Turkey have recently suggested that Super Lig champions Galatasaray may consider moving for Depay if they decide to part ways with fellow attacker Wilfried Zaha.
Mario Hermoso
Mario Hermoso has also left Atletico Madrid after five seasons with the Spanish giants following the expiration of his contract at the end of June.
The 29-year-old defender made a total of 174 appearances for Atletico, including 45 outings in all competitions last season, but Diego Simeone's side somewhat surprisingly opted against renewing the Spaniard's deal.
Sky Sports in Italy have reported that Hermoso has rejected the chance to join Bologna, while a host of other clubs including Aston Villa, Sevilla, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Napoli have all been linked with the centre-back this summer.
Joel Matip
After making 201 appearances and winning six trophies during an eight-year spell at Liverpool, Joel Matip is now looking for a new club after the Reds decided against offering the defender a new deal.
The 32-year-old was among the first signings made by former boss Jurgen Klopp, moving to Anfield on a free transfer from Schalke 04, and although he leaves the Merseyside club in the same fashion, he departs having enhanced his reputation after helping the club during some of their most memorable modern moments.
A return to the Bundesliga has been mooted for Matip amid reported interest from champions Bayer Leverkusen, while Premier League duo Everton and Fulham are believed to be among several other clubs weighing up a potential swoop for the Cameroonian.
Mats Hummels
Another experienced central defender without a club is 35-year-old Mats Hummels, who has departed Borussia Dortmund after a legendary 13-year career across two spells with the German club.
Hummels made a total of 508 appearances for Dortmund and was an integral part of the BVB side that reached last season's Champions League final, claiming the Man of the Match award in both legs of their semi-final victory over PSG.
The 2014 World Cup winner with Germany has refused to rule out retiring from football, but the prospect of one last challenge in the Premier League could tempt the veteran to continue playing amid reported interest from both Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United.
Marco Reus
Hummels is not the only 35-year-old legend who has left Dortmund this summer, as Marco Reus is also looking for a new club after ending his 12-year association with the German giants.
The attacker has bid an emotional farewell to Dortmund after making the third-most appearances (429) in the club's history, while only fellow club icon Alfred Preissler (177) has ever scored more goals for BVB than Reus (170).
As things stand, Reus is still weighing up his next career move, but it is understood that MLS outfit Los Angeles Galaxy are at the front of the queue for his signature.
Sergi Roberto
One of the most in-demand free agents still searching for a new club is Sergi Roberto, who finds himself in unfamiliar territory after ending his 18-year spell with boyhood club Barcelona.
Roberto made 373 appearances for the Catalan giants and won an impressive 22 pieces of silverware during his time at Camp Nou, but now at the age of 32, the versatile midfielder is set to embark on a fresh challenge elsewhere.
It has recently been reported that Roberto has snubbed offers from Valencia, Girona and Sevilla to continue in La Liga, as he keen to test himself in a different country amid interest from the likes of Man United, West Ham, Roma and Como.
Yusuf Yazici
At the age of 27, Turkey international Yusuf Yazici finds himself without a club after turning down the chance to extend his contract with Ligue 1 side Lille.
Yazici established himself as a key first-team player for Lille last season, scoring 12 goals and registering four assists in 42 matches across all tournaments.
The attack-minded midfielder is now ready for a fresh challenge and was linked with a possible switch to AC Milan earlier this summer, while a return to his native Turkey with either Fenerbahce or Galatasaray has also been mooted.
David de Gea
Thirteen months after leaving Man United, goalkeeper David de Gea is still without a club, and while there have been suggestions that the Spaniard could hang up his gloves for good, a few European clubs have recently expressed their interest in the 33-year-old.
De Gea allegedly held talks with Serie A side Genoa last week, but the move now appears to have fallen through as both parties failed to reach an agreement over the player's wages.
Italian news outlet La Nazione now reports that Fiorentina are set to approach De Gea and are confident they can strike a deal with the goalkeeper, who has also been linked with a potential move to either the Saudi Pro League or MLS.
