Nkunku extended his purple patch as Leipzig hit back from a goal down to thump rock-bottom Greuther Fürth 6-1 last weekend. The soon to be capped Frenchman scored one and set up two, meaning he has now had a direct hand in 12 of Leipzig's league-high 27 Bundesliga goals since the turn of the year. Domenico Tedesco's side have won seven of nine games in that time, and can climb as high as third if results go their way on Matchday 27. With Dani Olmo recently overcoming illness, Tedesco has a choice to make between him and Emil Forsberg in the No.10 position, wit Dominik Szoboszlai yet another option. Central midfielder Kevin Kampl has overcome earache making Lukas Klostermann the only questionable first-team regular.
Frankfurt harboured top-four ambitions of their own at the halfway stage in the season. The Eagles were only two points off the pace at the end of the Hinrunde, but have since slipped to ninth, some seven points adrift of Leipzig, after claiming 10 points from a possible 27 in 2022. Although back-to-back wins over Hertha Berlin and Bochum will have lifted the mood, head coach Oliver Glasner is sweating on the fitness of influential attacker Jesper Lindstrom, while midfielder Djibril Sow is suspended. The Eintracht boss also has a midweek UEFA Europa League last-16 second leg with Real Betis to factor into his preparations. Needless to say, he'll be hoping talisman Filip Kostic and top scorer Borre can come through the tie unscathed.
Match stats
Nkunku has eight goals in nine Bundesliga games since the turn of the year. He's scored eight of his 15 goals this season on home turf.
Andre Silva has scored 50 Bundesliga goals in 83 games. He hit 40 of them for Frankfurt, including a club record 28 last season. Leipzig and Eintracht are the only Bundesliga teams he has not found the net against.
Leipzig have more points after nine Rückrunde games (22) than any other Bundesliga team.
Borre and Lindstrom are Eintracht's top two Bundesliga scorers this season, with seven and five goals respectively. However, both players have only scored once across the Rückrunde - in the 4-1 win at Hertha on Matchday 25.
Thirty-five of Frankfurt's 37 goals so far in 2021/22, as well as 54 of Leipzig's 57, have been scored by non-German players. That's 95 percent in both cases - a league high.
The away team has never won a Bundesliga meeting between Leipzig and Frankfurt (five home wins, six draws).
