Preview: Heracles vs. PSV Eindhoven - prediction, team news, lineups

sportsmole.co.uk, 3 November 2023, 00:29
Heracles will be looking to end a run of five matches without a victory when they welcome PSV Eindhoven to Erve Asito on Saturday in round 11 of the 2023-24 Eredivisie season.

On the other hand, the away side make the journey to Almelo aiming to maintain their perfect start which has seen them win nine straight league matches.

Match preview

PSV Eindhoven put on arguably their most impressive performance of the campaign last time out following a 5-2 victory over Ajax in Sunday's meeting at the Philips Stadion.

Peter Bosz's men trailed 1-0 and 2-1 but managed to restore parity on either occasion through Hirving Lozano and Luuk de Jong before two further goals from Lozano and an Ismael Saibari strike put the game to bed.

As a result, the Rood-witten continue to set the pace at the top of the Eredivisie table, five points behind nearest challengers AZ Alkmaar.

Next up is the task of facing off against an opposing outfit who are without a win in the last 13 editions of this fixture across all competitions.

Unbeaten in all but one of their most recent 20 away encounters, Saturday's visitors will be confident of coming away with a positive result on the road once again.

Heracles were dumped out of the KNVB-Beker on Wednesday courtesy of a 2-0 defeat against lower league opposition Hardenberg at De Boshoek.

Dan Hillhouse's men went behind 10 minutes shy of half time to Matias Jones's opener after which Jesper Drost sealed the deal just past the hour mark.

Prior to that, the Heraclieden were on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat against Heerenveen and have now dropped down to eighth in the standings.

Having picked up 10 points from a possible 15 on home turf so far, Saturday's visitors now set out to get back to winning ways in front of their fans.

Team News

PSV duo Armando Obispo and Mauro Junior continue to nurse knee injuries as Noa Lang prepares to sit out a fourth straight game with a groin problem.

Armel Bella-Kotchap also misses out for the visitors through injury but the defender is closing in on making his comeback to first-team action.

Following his three-goal haul against Ajax, Hirving Lozano will head into Saturday's game with the wind in his sails and is one to look out for.

Dutchmen Diego van Oorschot and Jizz Hornkamp remain ruled out for Heracles with leg and ankle injuries respectively, while Nicolai Laursen is unavailable with a damaged knee.

Having fielded a relatively weaker team for his side's cup exit in weekend, Dan Hillhouse is expected to ring the changes for this weekend's encounter against more illustrious opponents.

Heracles possible starting lineup:

Brouwer; Roosken, Hoogma, Bultman, Bakboord; Bruns, De Keersmaecker; Hansson, Ouahim, Wehmeyer; Engels

PSV Eindhoven possible starting lineup:

Benitez; Dest, Boscagli, Ramalho, Teze; Schouten, Veerman; Bakayoko, Tillman, Lozano; De Jong

We say: Heracles 1-3 PSV Eindhoven
