The home side will enter the contest off the back of a two-goal success over rivals Swansea City, while Coventry drew their fourth straight match on Saturday, sharing the points with Hull City.
Match preview
The Cardiff City Stadium was bouncing on Saturday evening, with Cardiff claiming the bragging rights against rivals Swansea courtesy of a 2-0 victory, with Ollie Tanner making the breakthrough in the 71st minute before Aaron Ramsey netted from the penalty spot late on.
Erol Bulut's side have now won three of their last four matches in all competitions, including two of their last three in the Championship, which has left them in 15th position in the table on seven points.
The Bluebirds finished 21st in the Championship last season, five points ahead of the relegation zone, so there is plenty of room for improvement during the current campaign.
Cardiff will aim to use the win over Swansea as a springboard, and there has been obvious improvement to the team following a shaky start to the campaign.
The Welsh outfit only managed to claim one point from their two Championship matches against Coventry last season, though, and the latter recorded a 1-0 victory in the corresponding contest in Cardiff.
Coventry suffered Championship playoff final heartbreak last season, losing on penalties to Luton Town, with the result keeping them in the second tier of English football.
Mark Robins's side will be expecting to challenge high up the division once again, but it has been an underwhelming start to the campaign, only picking up seven points from six matches, which has left them down in 13th position in the table.
Coventry lost their Championship opener at Leicester City, but they are actually unbeaten since, recording a 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough before drawing their next four against Swansea, Sunderland, Watford and Hull.
On Saturday, the Sky Blues were close to claiming what would have been a huge three points at Hull, with Joel Latibeaudiere's first-half goal leaving them ahead, only for Aaron Connolly to come up with a late leveller for the home side.
Coventry will take heart from their narrow success at Cardiff last season, but they will be heading to a team boosted by their victory over Swansea.

Team News
Cardiff will again be without the services of Josh Bowler on Tuesday evening, with the midfielder still battling to overcome a troublesome calf issue.
The home side did not pick up any fresh problems against Swansea, though, and due to the manner of the performance, largely the same XI could be selected for this match.
Tanner was the game-changer off the bench on Saturday, but Ike Ugbo has already scored three Championship goals this season, so it is difficult to imagine the 24-year-old being removed from the side here.
Coventry, meanwhile, have two players currently in the treatment room, with Fabio Tavares (Achilles) and Callum O'Hare (ACL) unavailable for selection.
Matthew Godden has been the team's main source of goals this season, finding the back of the net on three occasions in the Championship, and the 32-year-old will again feature in the final third of the field.
There could be a change in an advanced area, though, with Kasey Palmer battling to be included from the first whistle, while Ellis Simms is also pushing to be involved from the start on Tuesday night.
Cardiff City possible starting lineup:
Alnwick; Ng, Goutas, McGuinness, Collins; Siopis, Wintle; Meite, Ramsey, Grant; Ugbo
Coventry City possible starting lineup:
Wilson; Latibeaudiere, McFadzean, Binks; Van Ewijk, Eccles, Kelly, Dasilva; Palmer; Godden, Wright
We say: Cardiff City 1-1 Coventry City
Coventry have been the draw specialists in recent weeks, and we are predicting another stalemate here. Cardiff are in strong form at this moment in time, but they will be welcoming a Coventry outfit that are difficult to beat, which has led us to predict a low-scoring draw on Tuesday night.
