Kylian Mbappe's future remains unknown, but an announcement of where his future lies appears to be imminent.
For now, every gesture and every word carries weight and Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he has no idea about what will happen next, despite having recently said we was certain he forward would stay at Paris Saint-Germain.
"I don't know Mbappe's decision," Pochettino said at his press conference on Friday, ahead of PSG's last game of the season.
"It's a personal matter for Kylian with the club.
"There are a lot of reports and rumours. While respecting Kylian, whose contract ends this season, it's up to the club and the player to deal with these issues.
"I'm not the right person to make a comment that concerns these two parties, especially not about the player."
Rather expectedly, Pochettino was pushed for information in his press conference, with PSG's game against Metz taking a back seat to the Mbappe saga.
"My personal impression is that it has been a year in which there have been different situations," Pochettino said.
"My wish is that Kylian will be at PSG for many years to come.
"But I can't lie about it, I don't know what will happen.
"I also don't know when he will make his decision or what it will be. We don't know anything. We are waiting to see what will happen."
Pochettino on his future
The coach himself is facing an uncertain future, or at least appears to be. He, though, said that he is committed to the cause.
"I have one more year on my contract and I don't see why I won't be here next year," Pochettino said.
"I hope the best is yet to come.
"The dream is to win the Champions League. It has become an obsession for this club and I want to do it."
