Parker lifts lid on hard work that went into Solanke's 6-second goal

The Cherries took the lead against their promotion rivals thanks to a quickfire goal from Solanke but they couldn't hold on as spoils were shared at Craven Cottage

Fulham and Bournemouth's Friday night meeting was billed as having the potential to be a Championship classic.

And whilst there weren't as many goals as some would have expected or hoped for, the 1-1 draw did not disappoint.

After a goalless first half, Bournemouth took the lead just eight seconds after the restart.

Dominic Solanke fired home his 16th goal of the season from a well-worked goal - one that Cherries' boss Scott Parker admits was straight off the training ground.

Tosin Adarabioyo glanced a header home late on to ensure spoils were shared at Craven Cottage.

The result strengthens both sides' grip on the top two spots as they chase a Premier League return.

When quizzed on the goal for his side, Parker said: "It was straight off the training ground.

"We worked on it on Thursday to try to work out where they were weak and sometimes they don't always come to fruition on the stage.

"But tonight, there's nothing more pleasing that it came off. We wanted to try to exploit the spaces between full-back and centre-half on transitions and the areas where Dominic Solanke was popping up, and it worked.

"This game was always going to be on fine margins so we worked hard on that, worked out on where they were weak in those situations."

The goal was a simple through ball from Philip Billing to pick out Solanke and he emphatically fired home. Unfortunately for Parker, his side couldn't hold on for all three points.

Nevertheless, it was an encouraging performance on what was his first return to Fulham since departing in the summer.

"It was all good," he said of his return.

"I have a job to do with Bournemouth now but I had two unbelievable years with Fulham.

"I am immensely proud of what I did and how we went about it.

"I am thankful to Fulham for giving me the opportunity. I get the fickleness of football sometimes but deep down I would like to think that the Fulham fans have an appreciation of what we did here."

As for Fulham, they remain top by a single point. But their boss Marco Silva believes they should have come away with all three points.

He said: "I think everyone who saw the game will think we deserved more from it. We were the best team on the pitch definitely.

"They tried to surprise us a bit with a change of formation, but we got the message across early and dealt with it and went into half-time the stronger side.

"I was impressed that we never gave up, we kept fighting, kept creating chances and we deserved more than we got from the game."
