It was revealed on Wednesday that the Manchester United legend has left his role at the Dutch giants with immediate effect.
Despite winning the KNVB Cup and Johann Cruyff Shield this season, scenes off the pitch are believed to have caused his departure.
Reports claim that some players had become unhappy with Van Nistelrooy's management style.
He was also frustrated with the club's transfer business in January as key players Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke both left for Liverpool and Chelsea respectively.
For one PSV star though, the news was by no means what he wanted to hear.

According to ESPN reporter Milan von Dongen, Sangare walked 'angrily' to his car when he learnt of the Dutchman's departure.
He said: "They had to get him out of there to get him back. He was furious about Van Nistelrooy's departure. So there will also be talk within the group of players."
Van Nistelrooy took the role at PSV in 2022 after his head coaching roles at the club's youth sides.
He led them to domestic cup success, as well as the Europa League knockout round play-offs.
