As Manchester United's players walked out from the tunnel onto the pitch, The Stone Roses classic seemed to be playing solely for Cristiano Ronaldo.
This was always going to be about him, playing for the club for the first time in 12 years.
The crowd went crazy as he came out for his warm up and he applauded those who got in early.
'Viva Ronaldo' was sung loudly and it was deafening at times, with Adrian Durham shouting to the talkSPORT listeners as he broadcast the atmosphere ahead of kick-off on GameDay Live.
Sir Alex Ferguson was there, and Declan Donnelly - the Dec from Ant and Dec - for the hottest ticket in town and someone even brought a cardboard cut out of the main man - we're not sure either.
Even Avram Glazer, who is not in any way popular in that part of the world, also showed up.
This was the Ronaldo show and he delivered to the delight of everyone there.
It took him 45 minutes, but boy did they love it.
The noise was incredible and the player's mum was even reduced to tears at seeing her son continue to shine.
The roars got even louder when he celebrated with the customary jump into the corner with his arms by his side. 'Siuuuuu,' roared the official Man United Twitter account, with fans soon following suit.
And if you had been living under a rock for whatever reason and weren't sure what number he was wearing - the 70,000+ could tell you.
"I'm so happy for him, for the team and the supporters," Solskjaer said afterwards.
"You've sensed the atmosphere around the club since Cristiano signed and today could easily have been an anti-climax.
"But he's delivered again."
Ronaldo now has 120 goals for United in all competitions and Solskjaer said the atmosphere at Old Trafford felt like the good old days.
"Cristiano is a special man and player for us," labelling him a ruthless goal scorer.
He was 5/1 to win the Golden Boot before his debut and those odds will have been slashed even more.
As Marcus Rashford said: "Like he never left."
