The East Midlands outfit have enjoyed a productive summer transfer window thus far, strengthening in all areas of the pitch.
Goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, centre-back Nikola Milenkovic, midfielder Elliot Anderson and versatile forward Jota Silva have all arrived at the City Ground.
Acquiring the services of the latter has left head coach Nuno Espirito Santo with six players in Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Jota, Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi who will all expect to feature regularly in the starting lineup.
However, it appears that Forest remain in the market for yet another star addition in the final third, one that could plausibly prove to be a difference maker.
Forest emerge as contenders for Galeno
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Forest have approached Porto with a formal proposal for Galeno in recent days.
While the size of the offer has not been revealed, Romano adds that Porto have opted to reject the bid from the Premier League side.
Porto are allegedly insistent that they want to recoup €40m (£34.27m) for the one-cap Brazil international, it yet to be seen whether Forest want to or are capable of matching those terms.
Juventus have also been heavily linked with the 26-year-old, although they have also reportedly moved for a similar player in Fiorentina's Nico Gonzalez.
In theory, that could benefit Forest's cause, albeit it being realistic for Galeno to expect to receive interest from clubs of a higher standing over the coming weeks.
Galeno a star figure at Estadio do Dragao
With 16 goals and 12 assists to his name for 2023-24, Galeno is undoubtedly one of the star men at Porto, who now have Vitor Bruno in charge.
He also scored two goals on Saturday evening as Porto prevailed 4-3 over Sporting Lisbon in an incredible Supertaca Candido de Oliveira showpiece.
Porto also remain in control of his future with four years remaining on his contract, emphasising that there is no need to sell below their valuation.
From the player's perspective, though, he has played his entire career in Portugal and may naturally want to take on a new challenge in another country.
