And it led to one of the best light-hearted moments of the top flight season so far.
Visiting Brentford fans were jubilant as Ivan Toney's hat-trick gave the Bees a huge boost in their Premier league survival hopes against their relegation rivals.
And eagle eyed fans were left chuckling after spotting a very funny moment on the pitch in the second-half.
Eriksen has looked as classy as ever since returning to competitive action for the west London club, eight months after his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.
The Dane was looking for a better result at Carrow Road after his new side were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle in his first game back, and he certainly got it as he made his first start on Saturday afternoon.
He was even involved in the first goal as his corner kick was flicked on for Toney to head in past Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul.
And he experienced a moment of brilliantly bizarre sportsmanship from an opponent in the second-half, after he was guilty of a bit of a cheeky foul.
Williams is highly-rated at Old Trafford and you could see just why as he turned Eriksen in the middle of the pitch and went to gallop past the Danish midfielder.
Eriksen's response was to grab the 21-year-old around the waist and hurl him to the turf which, as you'd expect, caused an angry reaction from the on-loan Canaries ace.
Williams turned over and went to grab his tackler by the front of his shirt, and in that split second it was clear he was seeing red… until he realised who pulled him down.
His anger seemed to disappear immediately at the sight of Eriksen's face, and his angry grab quickly turned into an awkward, lingering hug with both players picking themselves up off the pitch with a smile on their faces.
The game ended up 3-1 after a flurry of late goals that were ruled out by VAR, and one that stood.
Milot Rashica looked to have pulled one back for Norwich, only for his strike to be chalked off for offside.
French forward Bryan Mbeumo then looked to have put the shine on a big win for the Bees with a goal to make it 4-0, but his effort was ruled out for offside too.
Norwich did eventually score when Teemu Pukki netted a consolation in the eight minutes of time added on, but the Canaries were well beaten.
But Bees fans will be buzzing after watching Eriksen play the full 90 minutes, in a brilliant showing from the 30-year-old who has has been hailed as Brentford's 'greatest signing'.
The former Tottenham and Inter Milan star joined the London club in January on a short-term deal until the end of the season, as he looked to return to the pitch eight months after his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.
Fellow Dane and Bees boss Thomas Frank said about his arrival: "With this crazy experience he chose to do something he knows: the Premier League, London, a club where he knows some of his teammates, and he has a connection to me.
"Imagine speaking to our fans when we were in League One and saying we would be in the Premier League in six or seven years' time and he would be playing for Brentford. It is a little miracle."
