'New sound unlocked' - Fans love Neville's reaction to Maguire's late miss

Maguire had the chance to snatch all three points in the dying seconds of the clash between the historic rivals, which ended 2-2 in a pulsating contest at Anfield.

The United centre-back found himself unmarked in the middle of the box and was in prime position to smash home Joshua Zirkzee's cut-back.

However, Maguire sent his effort blazing over the bar as Alejandro Garnacho, who was behind the defender, slumped to his knees.

Red Devils legend Neville was left devastated at Maguire's miss and those listening to Sky Sports' coverage certainly heard as much.

No one on social media quite knew how to describe it, but many picked up on the bizarre noise made by Neville.

The game was at risk of being called off due to heavy snowfall in and around the stadium, which could have impacted the safety of supporters travelling to Anfield.

But the clubs confirmed the fixture would go ahead as planned after a number of safety meetings.

Mohamed Salah scored his 18th league goal of the campaign to put Liverpool in front from the penalty spot following a handball from Matthijs de Ligt.

Yet United would hit back one final time through Amad Diallo as he swept home Garnacho's cross.

The result brought an end to United's four-game winless streak as they picked up a valuable point away to their bitter rivals.

As for Liverpool, they sit six points clear at the top of the Premier League.
