Mudryk at Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea after Blues hijack Arsenal bid to sign winger

The Ukrainian star was yet to officially be confirmed as a Blues player, after they pipped rivals Arsenal to his signature.

He is joining from Shakhtar Donetsk on a seven-and-a-half year deal on a deal worth £88million.

The length of the contract will help the Blues negate any Financial Fair Play [FFP] issues, as it will be spread to around £12m-per-year.

The 22-year-old is regarded as one of Europe's most exciting young talents due to his form for the Ukrainian side.

So far this term, the left-sided player has bagged ten goals and provided eight assists in 18 appearances so far, including three goals and two assists in the Champions League.

The Gunners had looked like heavy favourites to sign the forward during recent weeks, with Mudryk posting a series of social media messages to hint at his desire to join Mikel Arteta's side.

However a small hint on Chelsea's social media channels suggested that a move was near, with the Blues including his name in their Instagram bio.

But with the move now all-but confirmed, Mudryk watched on at Stamford Bridge.

He is understood to have undergone his medical at Chelsea on Sunday morning ahead of the Crystal Palace clash.

Shakhtar Donetsk posted a picture on Twitter of Mudryk at Stamford Bridge alongside the club's director of football Darijo Srna.

It is expected that he will be unveiled officially to fans at half-time in the match.
