The former Chelsea boss had the now-ubiquitous phrase attributed to him during his time at Stamford Bridge, but struggled to control an actual bus more than his team's defensive tactics.
Mourinho has been on a high since leading Roma to their first ever UEFA trophy by beating Feyenoord in the final of Europe's newest continental competition - the Europa Conference League.
The Portuguese manager was in tears when he ended his five-year stretch without silverware, and the joyous emotions continued into the open top bus parade.
Mourinho even had a go at driving the coach that was heading for the centre of the Italian capital, but ended up in trouble, having to slam on the brakes.
In a video of the moment, the former Tottenham and Manchester United boss appeared to have a brief moment of panic as he pumped the brakes to avoid flying into the police convoy.
He then almost repeated the incident, much to the amusement of his players.
The phrase, 'parking the bus' originated in 2004 after Mourinho's Blues were held to a goalless draw by Tottenham.
Post-match he said: "As we say in Portugal, they brought the bus and they left the bus in front of the goal."
Pundits soon took on the phrase, and often used it to mock Mourinho as his tactics became more and more defensive.
The idiom even appeared on EA Sports video game FIFA, with players able to select 'park the bus' as an ultra-defensive tactic.
And to live up to his reputation, Mourinho did in fact park the bus during his side's European win, with Roma managing only 33 per cent possession in the 1-0 win, with three shots on target to Feyenoord's five.
However, while he is an expert from the dugout, it seems the Special One needs a bit more practise behind the wheel!
