It was another day under the arch to forget for Mount, whose shot into Alisson Becker's arms allowed Kostas Tsimikas to end the cagey affair with the final kick of the game.
The 23-year-old looked heartbroken as Liverpool wheeled off in celebration, but the feeling isn't new for Mount.
In fact, it's his third Wembley defeat in under a year, having suffered similar trauma with England, and much earlier in his career with Derby.
Ex-Chelsea player Andy Townsend told talkSPORT: "A lot has happened for Mason in a very short space of time - he's got a lot of years ahead.
"He'll have to take this one on the chin and he'll bounce back, he's that sort of boy."
Mount has tasted success at England's national stadium, winning semi-finals, but when it comes to the crunch, his luck has run out.
One of football's greatest young talents, Mount experienced his biggest triumph in Europe, feeding Kai Havertz for the Champions League winner last summer.
But that experience hasn't put him in good stead domestically, with talkSPORT here to run you though Mount's other finals at Wembley Stadium and what went wrong.
Championship play-off final 2019 - Aston Villa 2-1 Derby
Mount's first experience of a Wembley final came during his successful loan spell with Derby County.
Despite scoring 10 goals and grabbing six assists over the season, it wasn't enough to help the Rams to secure promotion to the Premier League under Frank Lampard.
He did earn the opportunity to play his way into Lampard's plans the next season when he took charge of Chelsea, but this would be Mount's first taste of final disappointment at Wembley.
FA Cup final 2020 - Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea
Few expected Mount to prove himself at Chelsea after his successful loan spell with Derby, but he did exactly that in Lampard's first season in charge.
Eight goals and six assists in all competitions was a decent tally for his first year in the Premier League, but unfortunately the Blues went without silverware after finishing fourth in the league and falling short in the FA Cup.
They faced Arsenal behind-closed-doors at Wembley and were beaten by a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brace.
FA Cup final 2021 - Chelsea 0-1 Leicester
Just 12 months later, Chelsea found themselves with another shot at silverware.
Unfortunately, it was a familiar tale as Mount and the Blues fell short to end the season without a trophy.
Despite being favourites against Leicester, a Youri Tielemans effort denied the midfielder the chance at glory at Wembley, however another opportunity was just around the corner.
Euro 2020 final - Italy 1-1 England (Italy win on penalties)
In the confusingly named Euro 2020, the year 2021 also saw Mount take to the Wembley field in the final of the European champions.
Mount was a shining light as England got the whole country dreaming of what might have been, including witnessing Luke Shaw giving Gareth Southgate's side the lead after just two minutes.
Unfortunately Italy found a way back into the game and beat England in the oh, so family format of penalties.
Carabao Cup final 2022 - Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool (Liverpool win on penalties)
The Blues have showed a new ruthless streak under Thomas Tuchel after winning the Champions League last season, but that wasn't enough to see them over the line in the League Cup.
Chelsea faced Liverpool at Wembley for the first piece of silverware of the season, but unfortunately for them it was Klopp's side who came out on top thanks to a penalty shootout.
Mount will be hoping to finally win a final at Wembley when they face Liverpool in the FA Cup final, but based on this result there's no doubt that they'll have a tough test ahead of them.
