Monday's Argentine Primera Division predictions including Velez Sarsfield vs. River Plate

Colon vs. C. Cordoba (Monday, 8.30pm)

A pair of clubs separated by a single point in the first phase of the Argentine Primera Division table will square off at Estadio Brigadier General Estanislao Lopez in Santa Fe as Colon host Central Cordoba on Monday.

Last week, Sabalero moved to within a point of Cordoba in 19th thanks to a 1-1 draw versus Barracas Central, while El Ferroviario lost their previous domestic affair, 1-0 against Union.

We say: Colon 1-0 Central Cordoba

We expect to see a fairly tight encounter when these sides clash, and given the Colon form at home and the fact that they have been more consistent in the attack, we will give them a slight edge on Monday.

Banfield vs. Rosario (Monday, 11.00pm)

Banfield can put some distance between themselves and relegation when they host Rosario Central on Monday at Estadio Florencio Sola.

Coming into this matc, El Taladro are winless in their last five domestic encounters, falling 1-0 to Estudiantes last Friday, while Rosario are eyeing a place in the Copa Libertadores, currently a point behind Talleres for third in the Argentine Primera Division.

We say: Banfield 1-3 Rosario Central

Eventually, the impact of Falcioni could pay dividends for Banfield, but Rosario have too many weapons that are in fine form at the moment and should find a way through their opponents' defensive setup in this one.

Huracan vs. Union (Monday, 11.00pm)

Huracan return to Estadio Adolfo Duco on Monday on a five-match unbeaten run at home in all competitions as they prepare to face Union.

Globo have drawn their previous two league fixtures versus Godoy Cruz and Sarmiento 0-0, while El Tate have points in back-to-back away games in the Argentine Primera Division, defeating Central Cordoba 1-0 in their last match.

We say: Huracan 1-0 Union

Even though Huracan are not in great form at the moment, they face a team with little to no quality in the attacking third, who struggle in the air and give the ball away plenty, all things that the home team have been pretty sharp at this season.

Instituto vs. Estudiantes (Tuesday, 12.00am)

Estudiantes will be looking to make it three victories in a row in all competitions when they face Instituto in the Argentine Primera Division on Monday night.

The away side are currently fourth in the table on 31 points, nine points behind the leaders River Plate, while Instituto occupy 17th position, having picked up 20 points from their opening 17 matches.

We say: Instituto 0-2 Estudiantes

Instituto are capable of making this an uncomfortable match for Estudiantes, but we are finding it difficult to back against the visitors, who will be able to call upon superior quality all across the pitch.

Velez Sarsfield vs. River Plate (Tuesday, 1.30am)

Velez Sarsfield can stretch their home unbeaten run to seven matches in the Argentine Primera Division when they welcome River Plate to Estadio Jose Amalfitani on Monday.

River, the league leaders, won their previous domestic encounter 2-1 over Platense, while El Fortin drew Rosario Central 0-0 a week ago.

We say: Velez Sarsfield 0-2 River Plate

As good as Velez Sarsfield have been defensively at home, River have been far more consistent from one match to another and we expect their backline to be relatively comfortable containing an attack without much quality.
