Federico Gatti, who used to be a bricklayer a few years ago, helped Italy keep a clean sheet against England last weekend - and is now in contention for a breakthrough at Juventus.
The Three Lions played out a 0-0 draw against the European champions at Molineux and Gatti made his debut in the Azzurri colours. Juventus bought the defender from Serie B side Frosinone for £7.7million back in January before loaning him out back to the club.
His impressive spell at the club last season prompted an international call-up - something he would not have dreamt of five years ago when he was working as a bricklayer to make a living. "Five years ago I was a bricklayer playing non-league, now I'm an international star set for amazing Juventus transfer," Gatti told RAI Sport.
"I had an inkling that I would play so I didn't sleep much the last few days! I hope for many more of these days.
"I was playing in Serie B this season so being there with the players who are in the Champions League, it was a bit nerve-wracking, but I shook it off and played the way I do even in lower divisions.
"I don't look anyone in the face, I just go for it."

Meanwhile Italy boss Roberto Mancini left a message of encouragement for the youngster: "If I did play him, it is because I think he can become a very good defender for the future."
Back in 2019, Gatti was playing for non-league side Verbania, guiding them to promotion to the fourth tier before joining Pro Patria in Serie C. But now, he is now set to join Max Allegri's Juventus squad ahead of pre-season.
While a few years ago it was all unimaginable for him, he has now gone from playing part-time to now being in contention for a breakthrough at the Italian giants. The 23-year-old will be keen to continue contributing to Italy's success, but will not be able to compete in the World Cup this winter after the Azzurri missed out on a place.
