The 78-year-old departed the broadcaster at the end of last season to end 33 years of partnership with Sky.
Tyler hasn't retired though and can still be heard commentating matches - only now for Sky's rivals TNT Sports.
And he has also reported live from the gantry as part of the Premier League Productions team so far this season.
He combines his role while also being a coach at National League South side Dartford.
The Woking fan joined Shaun Custis and Henry Winter to speak on the Sunday Edition on talkSPORT, where the former stated that Tyler had 'stepped down' as Sky's lead commentator.

Quick to correct Custis, Tyler insisted that wasn't the case, as he said: "The only thing I would say - and you're normally so accurate - is I didn't step down, I was stepped down.
"I haven't retired and I'm very grateful to some channels who have decided I still have something to contribute."
Tyler was then quick to insist that he harbours no ill will towards Sky, as he praised them for giving him a wonderful career.
He added: "Please don't think there is any business about Sky at all, they gave me a wonderful run and I have got many friends there.
