Manchester United target Raphael Varane breaks silence on transfer speculation

Manchester United target Raphael Varane has broken his silence with speculation swirling over his future.

Real Madrid could be set for their own overhaul, with Sergio Ramos likely to leave as his contract expires this year.

But his defensive partner could be joining him out the exit door at the Bernabeu.

Varane will see his deal expire in the summer of 2022, meaning Los Blancos could sell him this summer or potentially lose him for nothing.

It has led to widespread interest in his services though it is United leading the chase, having looked to sign the Frenchman nearly every summer for a number of years.

Even Sir Alex Ferguson was desperate to snap him up over a decade ago when he was with Lens.

And the 28-year-old has finally broken his silence amid all the transfer talk, though he has put off any mention of the summer window until after the Euros.

"This is not the time to talk about my future. I am focused on the selection, on this Euro," he said.

"It is normal and logical to ask the question and for my part, it is normal and logical to focus on the upcoming deadlines.

"We are all human beings. We can think about it. As for my personal case, I am focused on the objectives that we have in the France team, it is not a subject that I will discuss every day in my room at Clairefontaine.

"I am focused on my goal, and now is not the time to discuss it. If I have to talk about it, it will be directly with the people concerned."

United have made a centre-back a top target going into the summer transfer window.
