Manchester United 's dressing room has reportedly divided into two distinct factions in the latest alarming update on the bleak situation at Old Trafford.
There have been numerous reports of tension between Red Devils players and confusion with Ralf Rangnick's methods circulating since before New Year.
The German was only appointed interim manager at the end of November but he already admits there are numerous "unhappy" stars in his squad.
The situation has only worsened since United suffered a 1-0 loss at home to Wolves last Monday, with superstar striker Cristiano Ronaldo subsequently growing disillusioned and holding crisis talks with his agent, Jorge Mendes.
In a new concerning development, it has been claimed the dressing room is fractured between those players who speak Portuguese and those who do not.
How can Ralf Rangnick restore harmony to a dressing room in disarray? Have your say in the comments...
According to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, the likes of Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Fred and Alex Telles are at loggerheads with those who do not communicate in their native tongue.
"I think there are a couple of issues," Crook told Darren Bent's Boot Room. "Clearly, there are problems in the dressing room and we've seen on the back pages today that Cristiano Ronaldo's agent is flying over because his client isn't absolutely convinced that he made the right move in terms of adding trophies to his glittering CV.
"I've been told there is a definite split with the Portuguese speakers and the non-Portuguese speakers. "
Crook also raised serious doubts over Rangnick's suitability to manage United, criticising his CV and claiming his achievements were "over-egged" upon his appointment.
"We're a few weeks now into this Ralf Rangnick project," Crook said. "We were told what an experienced operator he was when he got the job, that he was the godfather of the Gegenpress who all the other German managers that ply their trade in the Premier League or the former Bundesliga bosses - the likes of Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp and Ralph Hasenhuttl - look up to and admire.
"I think that may have been over-egged a little bit. I'm not sure that he's held in such high regard."
Crook added: "And I've said it all along on this programme and I've been pretty steadfast that Manchester United - like I said about Arsenal earlier - they need an elite-level manager.
"And if you look at Ralf Rangnick's CV, it doesn't smack of an elite-level manager. Ulm 1846 [is where he won] his first trophy as a manager. Stuttgart, he won the Intertoto Cup. Hannover, he won the 2. Bundesliga. Schalke, he won some cups and yes he did take them to a Champions League semi-final.
"But I think he's probably a better administrator - and that's where most of his success has come in terms what he did in the Red Bull franchise - than he is a manager."
