A recent report claimed that new Man United boss Ruben Amorim has not made any requests to strengthen his squad in the winter transfer window.
However, that has not stopped the Red Devils from being linked with a number of potential targets with less than a month to go until the January market opens.
Man United have held 'concrete talks' over a move for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres after they reportedly sent scouts to watch him face Arsenal in the Champions League last month.
They have also been to Germany to watch in-form Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush, having identified the Egypt international as a potential target.
Man United keep tabs Porto duo
According to the Daily Mail, Man United have also sent scouts to Portugal to 'gather information' on the Porto duo of Moura and Samu.
The report claims that Man United staff were in attendance to watch Porto face Amorim's former club Casa Pia in Monday's Primeira Liga fixture.
The scouts would have seen Samu provide an assist for Fabio Viera's opener, before getting his own name on the scoresheet to wrap up a 2-0 victory.
Samu and Moura played the full duration of Monday's successful home outing, with the latter operating on the left side of defence.
Why are Man United keeping tabs on Man United?
Man United appear to be considering Samu as a potential target as they look to strengthen their options in the final third.
Samu, who was linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer, has been in fine form since he joined Porto from Atletico Madrid in August.
The Spain international has racked up 13 goals in 16 competitive appearances, including a brace in Porto's 3-3 draw against Man United in October's Europa League clash.
Meanwhile, Man United could look to recruit a left-sided defender due to the injury issues that have affected Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
The Red Devils will be keen to establish whether Moura has the qualities to operate as a wing-back in Amorim's 3-4-3 system.
The 25-year-old has made 16 competitive appearances since joining Porto from fellow Portuguese side Famalicao in the summer transfer window.
Moura and Samu signed five-year deals upon their arrival at Estadio do Dragao, meaning they are under contract until the summer of 2029.
