The Under 18s will be playing in the club's first Youth Cup final in 11 years on Wednesday night, in front of more than 70,000 fans at Old Trafford, and will want to re-exert United's dominance in the competition.
United's academy side will be looking to emulate the 2011 side that beat Sheffield United 6-3 on aggregate after drawing 2-2 in the first leg to win the trophy.
And Neil Ryan's team won't have to go far to find their role models - even a decade on from the fixture.
West Bromwich Albion keeper and England international Sam Johnstone, Everton's Michael Keane and his twin brother and Wigan striker Will Keane were part of United's XI that day.
Most notably, United's current first team players Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard made up the side, too.
The expectation from the Red Devils fan base was for the pair to go on to reach the level of and slot in for Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs when they clinched the 2011 trophy.
But whilst Pogba and Lingard went on to have bright spells in their senior career at Old Trafford, the pair are now heading for the exit after a disappointing and fractious season on the red side of Manchester.
Nevertheless, the undesirable end to their Old Trafford careers shouldn't deter United's Under 18s from being inspired by them, given what the 2011 success meant for the current first team stars' careers.
"We believed and we achieved and that is something that, if I have a message for kids and everything, it is just to believe in your dream and you can achieve it." Pogba said at a fan Q&A.
Ironically, current United captain Harry Maguire was also playing in the 2011 tie - but for the opposition, Sheffield United.
But the current Under 18s definitely won't want to emulate the Blades academy graduate's performance, given he was stretchered off in the second half after a clash of heads.
Could there be some future, big name United stars in Wednesday night's side?
The likes of 17-year-old Alejandro Garnacho has already been called up to the Argentina squad, while midfielder Kobbie Manioo is very highly rated.
United will certainly be hoping they will be able to follow the path to senior team success.
