The 19-year-old spent much of his youth career at his hometown club of Tromso in Norway before singing for United in 2020.
He is yet to make a senior appearance for the club but is a regular for their Premier League 2 side.
Hansen-Aaroen was called up to training by Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag last month and attracted loan interest from clubs in England and across Europe.
A move away didn't materialise in the summer but the midfielder has hinted that such an opportunity could arise again in January.
Speaking to Norwegian outlet Verdens Gang about his time in Manchester thus far, he said: "You learn a lot from moving. I have learned a lot as a person. I have lived a lot alone and away from family.

"You learn a lot about yourself as a person. There are many in the national team who have done it. I feel we are a fairly mature group, he says."
When asked if Alejandro Garnacho's progress from the youth side to first-team picture has inspired him, he responded: "Absolutely.
"When the chance comes, you have to be ready. It can come suddenly. What I'm doing now is just making sure that when the chance comes, I'll be ready to take it."
However, when questioned if a loan move could take place in January, Hansen-Aaroen said: "Yes, possible. There is a lot of interest.

"If we wanted it to be a loan, I know we could go. There were slightly different things that we didn't quite agree on [in the summer]."
Hansen-Aaroen has scored twice already for the United U21s this season and made 25 appearances last term.
He has represented the Norway U21s during the international break, scoring in the 7-0 win over San Marino.
