Man City wonderkid Phil Foden overshadows Erling Haaland as Borussia Dortmund fume at 'awful decision' which denies Jude Bellingham crucial goal

Phil Foden outlined his world class potential with a match-winning display in Manchester City's 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final.

However, the Bundesliga outfit will feel aggrieved to not be returning to Germany with a lead to protect after a controversial decision from referee Ovidiu Hategan.

The hosts took the lead in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final after a mistake from former Liverpool player Emre Can.

Yet it was another one of Europe's top young talents who grabbed the headlines as De Bruyne swept in a glorious cross to find Ilkay Gundogan, who calmly dragged the ball back to Foden to sweep home.

The Stockport-native, who grabbed his 12 th goal of the season, was forced to wait after a VAR check for offside, yet the goal was correctly given.

Dortmund proved why they are one of the best sides on the continent, with so much potential in the side and Jadon Sancho still to return, Edin Terzic's side gave a wonderful account of themselves.
