Even though they were promoted last season, the Premier League champions haven't been able to get the better of their opponents in four games (drawn two, lost two) since 2003 when the likes of Shaun Wright-Phillips and Nicolas Anelka were in the squad as well as Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel.
City came away with a 2-1 victory in that match thanks to goals from former Bermuda striker Shuan Goater and ex-Denmark left-back Niclas Jensen.
Whilst the club were nowhere near the powerhouse they are today, that 2003 team still contained some talent.
Schmeichel, who won multiple Premier League titles as well as the Champions League with United, was in goal and just in front of him was City icon Richard Dunne.
On the opposite side was someone who would go on to sign for City, James Milner.
At the time, the Leeds academy product, who was just breaking into the side, was sent on after an hour to try and get his side back in the game but was unfortunately unable to do so.
Since those days much has changed for both club.
The Yorkshire side were relegated in 2004 and spent 16 years in League One and the Championship before making their long awaited return to the Premier League in 2020.
That match at Maine Road was also managed by two legends of the game in Kevin Keegan and Terry Venables who were in charge of City and Leeds respectively.
Remarkably, these two clubs' head-to-head record are closer than many would think with City winning 45 matches, losing 43 and drawing 18 times with Leeds.
The financial takeover in 2008 by Sheikh Mansour well and truly changed the club and whilst Leeds were dwindling in the Championship, their opponents were establishing themselves as one of the most formidable sides in England.
With some big names on the Man City team sheet, the starting eleven from that day is incomparable to the team now.
Under Pep Guardiola, the Premier League champions boast some of Europe's most exciting talents such as Bernando Silva, Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne.
The side have scored 499 goals in 206 Premier League games under the manager - a goal here would see the Spaniard become the manager to see his sides score 500 in the competition in the fewest games from the start of his tenure.
Elsewhere there is still a wealth of quality that the Spaniard is able to call upon such as Raheem Sterling who recently netted his 100th goal in the Premier League, Riyad Mahrez and Joao Cancelo.
Even still, City fans will be comforted knowing how much their club has progressed the last time they took three points off the Yorkshire side.
