It's been 33 years since 96 supporters travelled to the home of Sheffield Wednesday for the FA Cup semi-final clash between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, never to return home.
In the past year, that number became 97 following the passing of Andrew Stanley Devine, who died in July 2021 as a result of the life-changing injuries he sustained at Hillsborough.
Ahead of the clash between Jurgen Klopp's side and Manchester City in the FA Cup at Wembley on Saturday, both sides took part in a minute of silence to remember those who were victims of that horrific day.
Sadly, the tribute was ruined somewhat when a section of City supporters were heard booing during the silence, much to the annoyance of the majority of supporters in Wembley Stadium.
As a result referee Michael Oliver cut short the silence much to the disgust of those inside and paying their respects.
City chiefs were quick to respond to the issue, sharing a statement at half-time of the FA Cup semi-final clash which condemned the actions of those involved.
The statement read: "Manchester City are extremely disappointed with the actions of some City supporters during the minute's silence before today's game.
The club sincerely apologises to all those connected with Liverpool Football Club."
