Man City fans fume as BT Sport app for game at Borussia Dortmund crashes

Manchester City supporters hoping to see their side in action against German giants Borussia Dortmund were left disappointed as BT Sport's streaming app kept having severe difficulties Erling Haaland returned to his former club on Tuesday evening

Manchester City supporters were left furious as BT Sport's streaming app was hit with difficulties in the early stages of their Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Pep Guardiola 's men travelled to the Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday evening having already booked their place in the next round of the competition. Despite that, there was still huge interest in the match with it signalling Erling Haaland 's first return to Dortmund since sealing his £51m switch to the Premier League champions in the summer.

However supporters hoping to watch the game from home were left severely disappointed, as BT Sport's official app was struck down with problems.

When attempting to access the match itself, viewers were hit with a stage of buffering before an error message appeared reading: "Sorry, there was a problem playing the video. Please try again. If the problem persists, please visit our help pages."

It appears the vast majority of viewers were afflicted with the problem. Some labelled the error as "shocking service", whilst others were left demanding a refund for their subscriptions to the platform.

Others then turned to the BT Sport help pages on Twitter in order to find a resolution but it appears that BT themselves were unaware of the problem.

Their reply to one disgruntled reporter read: "Hey Nigel, What issue are you having? I have checked the matches on my BT Sport app and its working well."

Fortunately, the issue appeared to resolve itself midway through the first-half at the Signal Iduna Park and supporters had not missed all too much with the scores remaining level past the half-hour mark.

Ahead of the match, City boss Guardiola suggested that he was expecting a tough test in Germany despite his side having already been assured of their place in the last-16.

Speaking with BT Sport, he said: " It's not easy, they're [Dortmund] good, organised with the ball and have the patience to do it.

"At the same time, we're going to try break inside, outside, it depends on the moment and find positions between the lines. They are good with the two up front, it's the fourth time we play in two or three years, we expect similar and I think they do too."

Following their clash with Dortmund, City round-off their Champions League group stage commitments with a clash against Sevilla at the Etihad Stadium next week.

Ironically, that will be their third match in a row broadcast live on BT with their trip to Leicester City also set to be televised this weekend. Supporters will no doubt pray that there are far fewer problems for the showdown at the King Power Stadium.
