Mainz sat sixth as recently as Matchday 11 but a run of three successive defeats has the 05ers on a bit of a slide. The latest - a 1-0 defeat at Schalke in midweek - will have particularly pained coach Bo Svensson as it was just the Royal Blues' second victory of the campaign. Captain Silvan Widmer started on the bench in Schalke but should return on the right in place of Danny da Costa. Alexander Hack was also hooked after 30 minutes for "performance reasons". Stefan Bell may get the nod in the centre of defence if Svensson decides for fresh impetus. Onisiwo leads the line in attack as Jonathan Burkardt continues to wait in the wings having started just four times this term.

While their hosts have been struggling recently, Frankfurt are on the charge and have won four of their last five. That places Oliver Glasner's outfit fourth going into the final game before the Bundesliga breaks for the World Cup. And Götze will now be on the flight to Qatar after a five-year absence from the national team, thanks to his fine form since returning to the German top flight. His attacking partners-in-crime - Jesper Lindstrom and Randal Kolo Muani - were the standouts in midweek, with Kolo Muani scoring one and setting up two more - one of which for Lindstrom to score - in the 4-2 win over Hoffenheim. From that side, Luca Pellegrini could come back in at the expense of Eric Dina Ebimbe - who also scored against TSG - or Ansgar Knauff, while Daichi Kamada should continue in midfield as captain Sebastian Rode is touch and go due to injury.

Mainz's Aaron Martin has been shown three yellow cards in just five previous meetings with Frankfurt.

Mainz have as many as five former Eintracht players in their squad - Aymen Barkok, Bell, da Costa, Finn Dahmen and Dominik Kohr.

Mainz are without a win in their final Bundesliga match of a calendar year since 2013, when they recorded a 3-2 win in Hamburg.

Götze has more goals in his career against Mainz (12) than against any other side apart from Werder Bremen (also 12).

Kamada has a very even past experience against Mainz - picking up two wins, two draws and two defeats against them.
