Latest
Onisiwo scored three times across the first three matches of the season, but is currently seven games without a goal. Jonathan Burkardt hasn't scored at all this term, but Marcus Ingvartsen has found the net thrice in as many competitive games, and should retain his place in attack alongside Onisiwo. The Dane's goals have helped Mainz draw with RB Leipzig and beat promoted Werder Bremen to move to within a point of the top six. He was also on target in the DFB Cup second-round win at Lübeck in midweek. The 05ers haven't won at home all season, though, and are still without injured captain Silvan Widmer. Defender Stefan Bell could also miss out, but Jae-sung Lee's goal against Bremen will likely keep him in Bo Svensson's starting line-up at the expense of Angelo Fulgini.
Cologne are a point better off than Mainz after coming from behind to beat Augsburg 3-2 last weekend. Tigges scored twice, the former Borussia Dortmund striker adding to his Matchday 8 effort against his former club in another table-turning win. Florian Kainz returns from suspension, looking to swell his team-leading contribution of four goals and as many assists. Summer signing Linton Maina could continue in an attacking-looking line-up along with youngster Denis Huseinbasic, who has has scored twice and made one goal in his last three league games. Dejan Ljubicic is among a lengthy list of players still unavailable to head coach Steffen Baumgart but local boy Mark Uth could be in line for more minutes as he continues his injury comeback. Cologne have enjoyed a fixture-free working week, having been knocked out of the cup at the first hurdle at the start of the campaign.
