The former Leicester City playmaker enjoyed a superb start to the season under Ange Postecoglou but was stopped in his tracks after picking up an ankle injury against Chelsea last month.
Maddison was a key component in Spurs' rise to the top of the table and his spell on the sidelines has mirrored his side's recent slump in form.
The north London club showed signs of regaining their mojo with a 3-3 draw at Treble winners Manchester City on Sunday but remain six-points adrift of leaders Arsenal.
Maddison spoke to former goalkeeper Ben Foster and admitted one player from bitter rivals Arsenal stands head and shoulders above the rest whist claiming he possesses all of the attributes to succeed in the modern game.
"He's got everything. He's technically really good," said Maddison of England teammate Declan Rice. "He is a joke when it comes to low-cut passes. I think he's a top, top player, I hate that he plays for Arsenal."

Rice has featured prominently for Mikel Arteta's side since swapping West Ham for Arsenal in a £105 million deal this summer.
The midfielder has seamlessly stepped up to the demands of Champions League football and helped Arteta's side claim a two-point advantage over second-placed Liverpool in the race for the title.
Maddison also talked up another Three Lions teammate in Jude Bellingham who scooped the 2023 Golden Boy award in Turin on Monday night.
"I think I'm his biggest fan, he just loves footy," he added. I just had no doubt (that he'd be a success at Real Madrid), because of his mentality.
