Club president Dan Friedkin was spotted at Stamford Bridge for the Premier League clash with Luton Town, in a stadium which also contained Blues chairman Todd Boehly.
General manager Tiago Pinto was also seen, and held talks with Boehly in the belly of the Bridge according to reports in Italy.
Those conversations were over a loan for Lukaku, who is desperate to find his way out of west London after failing to agree moves with Inter Milan and Juventus.
The Belgian, who was Chelsea's record signing upon his £97.5million 2021, is set to leave on loan to the Italian capital.
Lukaku spent last season in Serie A back on loan with Inter Milan, having failed to impress upon his Chelsea return.

It was a similar story back at Inter last season, who seemingly gave up on re-signing the striker after his flirtations with fierce rivals Juventus.
Instead it looks like it will be a third Italian side, Jose Mourinho's Roma, who land the forward, much to the delight of their fans.
Despite being Belgium's all-time top scorer and a former Premier League revelation with Everton and West Brom, Lukaku is seemingly unwanted at Chelsea.
That's not the case at Roma though, with fans going crazy online, tracking flights to and from Rome and Farnborough airport.
