Lukaku opens up on "crazy" Inter Milan after organising Conte vs Martinez fight

Romelu Lukaku has praised Inter Milan's willingness to 'go to war' after organising a light-hearted fight between striker Lautaro Martinez and manager Antonio Conte.

Lukaku has helped Inter end a decade-long domestic drought, as Conte's men were crowned Serie A champions last month after a dominant campaign in Italy.

The former Manchester United frontman has netted 22 league goals this term, trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo in the goalscoring charts.

But Lukaku's goalscoring prowess has not been the only reason for Inter's superb season and he has lauded his side's 'crazy' determination to achieve their ultimate goal.

"Every team needs players to go to war," he told DAZN.

"[Nicolo] Barella and I, as well as Lautaro [Martinez] and [Marcelo] Brozovic, we are crazy in the head! But we give ourselves energy.

"The games against Milan, Atalanta and Lazio were still waiting for us. Compared to last year, we have won more direct clashes.

"We have shown that we are stronger. After the win against Atalanta, I said to myself: 'OK, we are really there for the Scudetto'."

Inter's team spirit was summed up in a hilarious boxing fight between Lukaku's striker partner Martinez and boss Conte, hosted by the Belgian star at their training ground.

The amusing fight was organised to settle a dispute between the pair after Martinez reacted angrily to being substituted in the midweek victory over Roma.

Martinez was substituted late on after being brought on in the 36th minute due to an injury to Alexis Sanchez, which caused a touchline clash.

The duo both wore gloves and Lukaku played the role of ring announcer in a showdown posted by the club's official Youtube channel.

Both were smiling to a chorus of boos from Inter players in a good-natured battle.

Martinez and Lukaku have been pivotal in Inter returning to domestic glory, with the Argentine forward contributing a further 16 league goals.

Lukaku has been delighted with the partnership he has formed with the 23-year-old.

"When I saw him for the first time, his father was with him," the Belgian striker added.

"I told him that within two years we would win some trophies together.

"We work for the team, if I realise that he's in a better position, I always search for him."
