The powerful Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), loaded with stars such as Gareth Bale and Mexico's Carlos Vela, will host Charlotte FC in a tough challenge for the visitors in their playoff aspirations in MLS week 25.
The game will be played on Saturday, August 13 starting at 10:30 pm (ET) at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.
One of them is LAFC, a team that comfortably leads the Western Conference and has been reinforced with top players.
Mexico's Carlos Vela was joined this season by former Real Madrid player Gareth Bale and former Juventus player Giorgio Chiellini.
Charlotte FC will arrive in Los Angeles after losing 3-2 to Chicago Fire, a direct rival that finished one point ahead of The Crown in the Eastern Conference (30) for the seventh and final postseason berth.
In addition, the Queen City will be without defensive leader Guzmán Corujo, who will miss the rest of the season due to injury.
Facing them will be the powerful LAFC, which has five wins in a row, most recently a 4-1 victory over Real Lake City.
LAFC are at the top of the Western Conference with 51 points, six more than Austin Football Club, their closest follower.
Arango is the team's leading scorer with 11 goals in 23 games, followed by Carlos Vela, who has seven goals in 21 games.
An eventual sixth straight win sounds like a no-brainer on paper. Charlotte is in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, with nine wins, 13 losses and two ties for just 29 points. Charlotte, meanwhile, is coming off a 3-2 loss to the Chicago Fire.
Saturday's match will be the first of two away games in a row for Charlotte FC. They next face second-place New York City
