However, the former England international was in top spirits, even posing with McGregor's own brand of stout Forged Irish.

There were stilt-walkers outside greeting patrons and traditional Irish dancers inside the venue.
Live music rang on into the late hours of the night, including a troupe of saxophone players.
And, of course, the walls were draped in green from arrays of balloons to huge lights to celebrate the occasion.

McGregor, meanwhile, was not in town because he was invited to Savannah as a thank you by the fire and police department.
The UFC legend has donated over £3million to their charity 'Tunnel to Towers', which helps firefighters and police officers with medical care.
Gerrard is still unemployed after getting the sack at Aston Villa earlier this season with the club in a relegation battle.
