According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool have emerged as a potential destination for Inter Milan's Thuram in the summer transfer window.

The report claims that Reds head coach Arne Slot has been left impressed by the performances of the 27-year-old during the opening months of the term.

It is understood that Thuram's current deal with Inter contains a £70m release clause that is active until the conclusion of the 2027-28 campaign.

It is believed that the 29-time international is aware of Liverpool's interest, although it remains to be seen whether he opts for a move to Anfield.

Former Reds manager Jurgen Klopp was supposedly a massive fan of Thuram, who was not lured to Merseyside during the German's nine-year reign.

Whilst the thought of a £70m deal for Thuram will excite supporters, those of a Liverpool persuasion also need to focus on potential outgoings at the club.

Mohamed Salah's contract at Anfield expires at the conclusion of the season, and it is currently unclear whether the Egyptian will sign an extension or fresh terms.

Boasting less of a legacy at Liverpool, Federico Chiesa has struggled since moving from Juventus in the summer and could be loaned out to an Italian club in January.

Should the Reds commence the 2025-26 term without both Salah and Chiesa, it is hard to argue against the Merseyside club requiring major attacking reinforcements.
