Lingard dances after getting first Forest goal as they knock Spurs out of Carabao Cup

This came after a wonderful curling effort from Renan Lodi set Forest on their way to what would be their first victory over the north London side in 25 years.

It also ensures that the pressure is firmly placed on Antonio Conte's side.

While Tottenham are sitting fourth in the table, Spurs have won just one of their last four games in the Premier League with many criticising Conte's negative approach to matches.

With pressure building on the Italian boss to secure the club's first trophy since 2008, progress in the Carabao Cup was of the utmost importance and that was made clear by the fact that Conte named arguably his strongest-possible XI, minus Fraser Forster, who was handed an opportunity in place of Hugo Lloris in goal.

Harry Kane was brought off immediately after the second goal went in, while Ryan Sessegnon also pulled up with a thigh injury but managed to play on after Conte had played all five of his substitutions.

However it wasn't enough to get a result as Spurs look to Saturday's league clash with Leeds as they look to ensure they head into the World Cup break on the back of a good results.
