Manchester United transfer target Leon Goretzka has ended any speculation of a potential move to Old Trafford after putting pen to paper on a new deal with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
The 26-year-old has opted against swapping Munich for Manchester, instead extending his stay at the Allianz Arena for a further five years.
Goretzka has always had admirers within the Old Trafford hierarchy, meaning that when the midfielder entered the final 12 months of his contract in Germany at the beginning of this season - Man Utd placed his name on to their lengthy shortlist of potential midfield additions, which reportedly included names such as Declan Rice and Eduardo Camavinga, who eventually signed for Real Madrid.

In a joint statement with the club, Goretzka expressed his joy at signing a new five-year deal with the German outfit.
"With FC Bayern we have won everything there is to be won over the past three years.
"But it is even nicer than winning a title to confirm and repeat these successes. We want to build on this in the next few years," Goretzka explained.
"The team, the club and the environment are not only highly professional, but also familiar.
"This mixture is one of the guarantors of success of this club. I am very happy that I was able to extend my contract early until 2026."
Goretzka has been at Bayern for the last three illustrious years, in which time he has won three Bundesliga titles, as well as two DFB Pokals, one UEFA Super Cup and a Champions League.
He has also been a regular this season under new boss Julian Nagelsmann, who has enjoyed a decent start to life at the helm of Germany's biggest club as they sit second after three wins and one draw, behind only Wolfsburg.
Nagelsmann had explained he expected Goretzka to stay at the club prior to him actually signing the new deal, speaking ahead of the new season the former RB Leipzig boss said.

"I stay out of these issues. Of course, I have talked to him about my plans for him."
"I've told him I'd be happy if he extended and I'm also confident. There are several topics involved when it comes to discussing a contract extension.
"I'll continue to focus on the sports side of things and show him he can be one of the most dangerous midfielders in Europe. He has potential to get even better."
