Tottenham striker reached a Premier League goalscoring landmark in his side's 1-0 win over Wolves on Saturday and celebrated doing so in front of one of the game's legendary striker Harry Kane scored a record-breaking goal in front of Ronaldo on Saturday

History maker Harry Kane headed his 250th goal for Tottenham in front of legendary Brazilian striker Ronaldo - but doesn't believe the World Cup winner was there to see him.

Humble Kane, whose striker made Spurs the fifth team to score 1,000 goals at home in Premier League history, said: "I haven't spoken to him! I just saw on social media that he was in the stands. We've got a few Brazilians in our team now so I'm sure he was watching some of those.

"Ronaldo was one of the greatest strikers of all time. I loved watching him, I loved watching him on YouTube as I was growing up. It was great to see him here." Ronaldo's countryman Emerson Royal started Saturday's win over Wolves while Richarlison and Lucas Moura came off the bench.

Despite Wolves dominating for most of the game, Kane believes Tottenham's mental strength to weather the storm augurs well for the season ahead. Spurs have now drawn two and taken a point off Chelsea in their opening three games to increase confidence that Antonio Conte's squad could yet launch a shock bid for the title.

"If you want to do something important in the season you have to be able to handle those high-pressure situations," Kane added. "In the big games, tight games like this one, you have to be able to come out on top and build those points throughout the whole year. We've started the season well. Obviously the first game we played really well and the next two we know we can improve but we've got good results. That's pleasing to see. But also we know you can't keep that up the whole season, we have to be better."

Meanwhile, Wolves defender Jonny admits his side need to start scoring again if they want to stay in the big time. Bruno Lage's side drew a blank yet again to make it just one goal in their three games so far this season and no win in their last ten stretching back to April 2. Jonny said: "We have a good team, we have good players and we have a good mentality but we need to score goals to fight with the best teams."

No side outside the bottom three scored fewer goals than Wolves last season. Otto the recoveries of team-mates Pedro Neto and Raul Jimenez will help the Wolves team find their stride again. The Spaniard, who also had a spell out, said: ""We had a lot of time together when we were injured. We are both happy to be playing again and trying to help the team. Now we need to play games. That will be the best for us. He's of course a great player. Before the injury he was playing at a high level. I'm sure he can get to this level early (quickly) because he has this potential."
