Jurgen Klopp provides Liverpool squad health update after Arsenal postponement

Jurgen Klopp was given some good news after a nightmare week, as his squad reported a clean bill of health on Monday.

The Reds boss is confident the Covid scare which closed down Liverpool 's training ground last week is behind them, as most of his first-team squad returned to training.

Klopp was without 18 of his players for the postponed EFL Cup semi-final with Arsenal through injury, illness and absences, but the first leg will now go ahead at Anfield on Thursday, as the crisis eased.

Only Trent Alexander-Arnold ultimately tested positive for Covid after a series of false positives, and he will be monitored to see when he can return to training this week.

Liverpool are still without the injured Thiago - was back at the training ground to start his rehab on Monday - Divock Origi and Nat Phillips.

But the rest of the squad trained, with Roberto Firmino, Joel Matip and Alisson all recovered after isolating following a positive Covid test.

Shrewsbury meanwhile, have released a statement condemning vile chants from a small section of their supporters before the FA Cup tie at Anfield on Sunday.

Some supporters were filmed singing the insulting chants about the victims of Hillsborough who died, and the League One club said:

"Shrewsbury Town Football Club is disgusted and appalled to see and hear the reports on social media about the vile and offensive chanting and behaviour of a very small minority of our 'supporters'.

"These people do not represent our club in any way shape or form and we are liaising with West Mercia Police to try and identify those responsible who will in turn liaise with Merseyside Police.

"If any supporters have any information that might assist us in identifying those responsible, they can contact the club confidentially and we will use the information as part of our investigations with the Police authorities."
